Estranged? You Can Still Have Peace

Mike Harper 91.3 KGLY Early Afternoons

You may be totally free of fault (though it’s unlikely! It depends who you ask!) Maybe you’ve admittedly messed up and now you’re paying for your misgivings by this estrangement. Either way, know this: There is hope.

You can’t control others, only yourself. Just keep going. Do the right thing. Pray. Give and don’t take. Consider others better than yourself. Then do it again tomorrow.

You’ll be tempted to give up. Don’t. Throwing in the towel may seem right at the moment and may provide some temporary relief, but regret inevitably comes in the morning.

Avoid reacting in anger. Don’t lash out. Don’t play the victim. Even if you’re certain it’s justified. You could do irreversible damage to whatever chance you had at reconciliation.

Remember, you are an imperfect human being. But good news! With Jesus, you are perfect in His sight. It doesn’t make you right or better. Just accepted. He’s for you. He’s your confidant. He’s your advocate. He’ll be your shield when you feel hurt or offended. Let Him take the blows.

There will come a day when the situation will change. You need only be patient. Trust Him. God is faithful to see you through. Keep leaning on Him for comfort and direction.

This world hurts. The next world won’t. We can live today in preparation for forever by doing our best to love others as He loves us.

So keep reaching out! Be positive. Be the example. Slow and steady. You’ll win.
