How God Works through Stoves and Water Filters

A few months ago we started talking about our upcoming mission trip to Guatemala with a team of KVNE and KGLY listeners. We shared how you could be a part even if you couldn’t make the trip by purchasing a stove and water filter for a family.

Ephesians 3:20 says “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,  to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!”

This verse comes to mind when I think of how God provided those stoves and water filters for Guatemalan families though your generosity. Our goal was $13,500, enough to install 54 stoves and water filters, and also provide a Bible for each family. Not only did you step up and meet that goal, but God kept working and a total of $17,780 was raised before it was over. That’s enough for 71 stoves, water filters and Bibles!

While we were in Guatemala, we found out that a small church that would be there later this summer was not able to raise enough funds to cover the stoves and water filters they’ll be installing. Thanks to you, we can help fill that gap.

Here’s a call we received from Jennifer, who was on the trip with her son and daughter:

“I just wanted to call in and thank the listeners of KVNE for contributing so generously for the stoves in Guatemala. This past week, my teenage son, daughter and her best friend had the opportunity (along with me) to install 6 stoves and water filters in the community of Cerro De Oro in Guatemala. The last day, on the last stove we installed, the lady so kindly told us that she only dreamt of having a stove for years, and that she had never even seen a stove like the one we installed for her. She was so very grateful! One of our translators described that the stove takes away the soot and ashes from her lungs from cooking over an open fire for years that was hurting her, and that Jesus takes the sins that hurt us out of lives, and saves us. So every time she looks at the stove, to be reminded of Jesus and how He saves us. She ended up being saved that day, and accepting Jesus into her heart. I just wanted to once again thank the listeners for becoming vessels for God, and sharing His redemption story through the building of a simple stove. We had a great time. Thank you for KVNE, we are blessed by your station every day.”

So we’re thankful that God worked through you in such an amazing way. Your gift not only impacted families in Guatemala, but families from our East Texas community who installed the stoves. We pray it impacted your heart as well!
