Remembering 9/11/01

People across our country today remembering once again where they were and the terrible images they saw, and the people they lost on this day 13 years ago. For me, the day takes on even more significance as I remember my son telling me how his 5th grade teacher explained to his class what was happening. And to know today that he is serving his country in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, gives me such pride in his service. I am praying for those grieving the loss of their loved ones on this day in 2001 and for the safety of all those who are serving with duty and honor – some who were just in kindergarten – to answer an attack that has forever changed all of our lives.

President George W. Bush said, “Time is passing. Yet, for the United States of America, there will be no forgetting September the 11th. We will remember every rescuer who died in honor. We will remember every family that lives in grief. We will remember the fire and ash, the last phone calls, the funerals of the children.”

Psalm 34:17-18
“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
